Meet Stephenie
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
Hello! I am so excited you found me and hope we can connect. But first, here is a little more information on me...
I grew up in a small community that led to my love for connecting with others. I entered college with the dream of being an editorial journalist someday. I changed those plans after I accepted a job that had me in the community connecting with individuals experiencing violence. After graduating from KSU (Go Cats!) I was a case manager for 8 years at both a Headstart agency and then a domestic violence agency. During that time, I spent my days in and out of family’s homes making connections with them and their community that surrounded. These connections are the foundation in which I built my love for therapy on and am excited to be able to share that with you.
Growing up, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of eight and my other half is a Type 1 Diabetic. Both living and experiencing chronic illness from a different viewpoint has instilled a passion within me to both connect and advocate with those oppressed by their own chronic illnesses.
My therapy approach is compassionate but honest. I want to create a trusting relationship with you where I can encourage and empower you, but also challenge you in the same. Leaving room for some laughs, as I am always down to hear a funny story or good joke. When I am not in my therapy room you can find me exploring the metro. I enjoy going to concerts (any and all, I just love me some live music). I am a regular at many Kansas City Sporting events and you will find me more often than not at Arrowhead at 7am on Sundays during football season. I love spending time with my husband exploring new recipes in our kitchen and snuggling on the couch with our obnoxious and sweet Boxer dog, Jordy.
